New raw video stream save option

Posted: 23 October 2015 When recording footage, by default the raw video stream is being saved as well as the JPEG snapshots created from the stream. Mangocam now supports HTTPS access (via SSL/TLS) for MJPEG and JPEG snapshot cameras

Posted: 16 October 2015 We now support HTTPS access to IP cameras that support SSL / TLS encryption (like Foscam HD cameras). There is a new option in the camera configuration menu that will allow you to enable SSL for your camera (if supported). This is an advanced option and will require you to change / add port forwarding rules on your modem / router. RTSP over SSL/TLS is not currently supported as not many camera manufacturers offer this feature, however the RTSP authentication is much more secure compared to the HTTP basic auth or supplying credentials via access URLs.

More new camera profiles added

Please also keep in mind that Windows 10 also comes with the Internet Explorer installed by default, so this can be used as fallback if required.

New Foscam HD / Full HD camera models supported

Posted: 24 August 2015 We have added support for the new Foscam models FI9900P, FI9815P, FI9816P, FI9803EP, FI9853EP and FI9851P in direct stream mode (RTSP / H.264) for both the Sub and Main streams. Please be aware that some Foscam models use the HTTP port (88/tcp by default) for RTSP and some models use the RTSP port 554/tcp instead. If there is a dedicated RTSP port visible under Settings > Network > Port, then this port needs to be forwarded in your modem / router instead of the HTTP port.

Also some cameras only allow a very low resolution (less than 480p) via the Sub stream (/videoSub), in which case the Main stream (/videoMain) is a better option for Mangocam - however the bandwidth and frame rate settings should be adjusted accordingly. The video settings can be configured in your camera's Settings > Video > Video Settings menu.

Recordings split interval adjustable

Posted: 24 August 2015 The interval to split long 24h recordings into smaller chunks for easy viewing and downloading can now be selected / adjusted from the user settings page. The default value is 8 hours, the minimum time interval is 5 minutes and the maximum is 24 hours.

Motion detection mask invert option

Posted: 21 August 2015 Mangocam now allows the motion detection mask to be inverted - to either select a rectangular section of the image to be ignored from motion detection or to just perform motion detection on the masked area. To ensure that the area for detection is not too small, a limit of 1/4 is now enforced on our web interface.

We have added a new configuration check page

Posted: 31 July 2015 The configuration check page allows users to easily and quickly identify Mangocam configuration problems - like having a motion event recording schedule, but motion detection has been disabled on the camera. The page shows all issues found in a table - together with suggestions on how to fix a potential problem. This feature is in beta currently.

Posted: 10 Apr 2015 We have added additional MJPEG and RTSP / H.264 profiles for the Axis M, P and Q series - as well as generic EasyN camera model stream profiles. The resulting AVI video file is best played using VLC media player. MJPEG images / stills are still being created at full resolution at the frame rate requested and are used for viewing footage and motion events on the Mangocam web interface and mobile apps.

Posted: 25 Feb 2015 Video download (mpeg4 avi) performance and stability improvements. The resulting video file is best played using VLC media player.

Foscam Full HD 9900 models are now supported

Posted: 30 Jan 2015 Mangocam now supports the new Foscam Full HD (1080p) range of IP cameras. This has been tested with the new FI9903P in RTSP/TCP/H.264 mode, MJPEG stream and JPG snapshot mode.

External Access changes

Posted: 19 Jan 2015 External access pages are now using HTTPS (TLS) by default and also support an alternative authentication mode rather than just the Basic HTTP Auth. This works in every browser using the link provided (Config > Access) and does not require any further / subsequent manual authentication.

Support for ONVIF protocol (beta)

Posted: 14 Nov 2014 Mangocam now supports ONVIF compatible cameras (for H.264 / RTSP). For this to function, two network ports (ONVIF + stream) are required as the ONVIF protocol usually runs on a different port as the actual video stream. Most current HD cameras and NVRs are compatible with the ONVIF standard.

Support for sub user accounts

Posted: 21 Oct 2014 Mangocam now supports sub accounts. Sub Accounts allow you to delegate certain tasks to friends, family members or employees without giving them full access to your main Mangocam account. Currently only default permissions for cameras, schedules and alerts can be set, however in the near future permissions can be set for individual cameras as well.

SSLv3 support has been disabled

Posted: 17 Oct 2014 The outdated HTTPS protocol SSLv3 has been disabled on our webservers for security reasons (POODLE SSL vulnerability). Only the newer and safer TLS standard can be used from now on with HTTPS, which does affect some older Internet Explorer browser versions (6 and below). If you are still using one of these, now is the time to upgrade.

There is a delay of up to 5 seconds and the frame rate should be at least 2 fps. This feature is currently in beta and it's only available on premium plans. You can now select between the standard motion detection and brightness normalization, which adjusts the histogram for each channel prior to motion detection to reduce false alerts caused by the camera's auto brightness and also light changes in general - affecting the whole image. This parameter requires a stop and start of running camera tasks to take effect.

Added an undelete option for recordings

Posted: 25 October 2013 We have added an option to undelete recordings that have been manually (accidentally perhaps) deleted. Once the video data has been marked for deletion, it may still be on disk for up to one hour. Added more production nodes to our server farm and added servers page

Posted: 1 August 2013 Since we are continually adding and removing nodes, we are changing the notification procedure. A current list of hosts / source IPs used to access your cameras can be obtained here. There won't be any more tweets or updates on this page about this. Instead, please check the servers page at regular intervals using a suitable notification mode (www.changedetection.com or similar). Your cameras will start on a different node every time, so chances are the recording will still work (after a few retries) if some of our hosts are blocked by your filter rules.

Added more production nodes to our server farm

Posted: 18 July 2013 Please check the help page for the IP address if you have IP filters or firewall software enabled.

Fixed the Foscam FI9821W snapshot mode for the latest 1.1.1.13 firmware version

Posted: 21 June 2013 The snapshot interface has changed - instead of a redirect and link to the still image now the actual image is sent right away. This is working now and 1.1.1.13 increases frame rate (less requests / latency).

Added more production nodes to our server farm

Posted: 20 June 2013 Please check the help page for the IP address if you have IP filters or firewall software enabled.

Alerts can now be configured to send to additional recipients

Posted: 15 June 2013 Up to two additional email or SMS recipients can be selected for each motion detection and camera offline alert. There is also a new option to disable alerts to the primary notification address (account email or phone number).

Recorded images can now be downloaded as MPEG4 video

Posted: 14 June 2013 Video data can now be saved directly as AVI file (MPEG4 encoded) as well as zipped jpeg images. Different quality options are available as well as timestamps. We are recommending VLC media player for viewing. The only previous option was to download jpeg images as zip file and create video files from these using Avidemux.

Added motion event only recording and scheduling changes

Posted: 10 June 2013 Mangocam now supports motion event only recording for direct stream and FTP cameras. This also required changes to the scheduling and alerting module. New features / options are schedule priorities to stack multiple schedules with different settings on top of each other in the right order. Also new is an option for the schedules to disable alerting but still retain motion events. Finally alerts now have a sensitivity setting as well to only email at a certain severity but email and SMS when the level of change is higher. Motion event only recording requires your currently running cameras to be stopped for a minute to take effect.

Improved download and delete options

Posted: 16 May 2013 You can now select the exact time interval you would like to download - rather than 4 hours at once. Furthermore the quality of the images can be selected as well as the option to timestamp each image. The recordings page now has an option to delete all recordings on the day selected.
